LOVE your
lady parts!
We urge you to not only LOVE your lady parts but to LISTEN to your lady parts!
If you’re like most women, you likely don’t know much about the signs and symptoms
of Ovarian Cancer.
That’s okay...we’re here to change that. Get the facts and help us #NailOvarianCancer!
EDUCATE
There’s NO screening for Ovarian Cancer (many women think it’s screened for in an annual pap test but it’s not) and it can strike women as young as 20 years old. Knowing the symptoms (they are subtle!) and risk factors will raise awareness and help with early detection.
MOTIVATE
Talk to everyone you care about and share what you know about Ovarian Cancer. Have the two minute “Teal Talk” (it’s called this because the color for Ovarian Cancer is teal!) and motivate others to do the same.
It’s about being PROACTIVE…not PARANOID.
ADVOCATE
Pay attention and listen to your body. If you experience any symptoms for more than two weeks see your OBGYN and advocate for an ovarian ultrasound. If you have history of Ovarian Cancer in your family talk to a genetic counselor to see if a genetic test is right for you.
TALKING POINTS
Ovarian Cancer has the highest mortality rate
among gynecological
cancers in women.
There is NO Screening for Ovarian Cancer (your annual Pap screens only check for cervical cancer).
All women are at risk
but there is
an increased risk
for certain populations.
We created this symbol
to pay tributeto our incredible lady parts,
to honorour magnificent strength,
and to remindall women
to listen to your bodies.
Together we can #NailOvarianCancer
How to have a Teal Talk
Check out this video from Dr. Jill Alldredge
It’s so easy and it will save lives.
Ask if she knows about Ovarian Cancer.
Remind her that there is NO screening for it (only cervical cancer is screened for in a pap) so it’s crucial to listen to your body if you have symptoms.
Share the symptoms…
Lower back pain
Abdominal pain, pressure or bloating
Urinating more often than usual
Feeling full more quickly than usual
Pain during sex
Urge her to listen to her body and advocate for herself by seeing her doctor and getting a pelvic ultrasound if she’s had any of these for more than two weeks.
Motivate her to tell others she loves by having Teal Talks like this!
